What type of labeling machine is used in a carbonated beverage production line? Analysis of the advantages of OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines.

Carbonated beverage production has specific environmental requirements—the bottle temperature is low after filling (usually below 4℃), making it prone to condensation during transport; the production line speed is high; and carbonated beverage bottles need to withstand internal pressure of 4-5 atmospheres, making the bottles relatively rigid. These characteristics dictate the choice of labeling equipment. OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines are a mainstream solution designed specifically for these characteristics of carbonated beverage production lines.

Working principle of OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machine

OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines utilize wrap-around roller labeling technology. Unlike sleeve labeling machines, which apply the entire label to the bottle and then heat-shrink it, this machine cuts roll-type OPP film labels into individual sheets, applies hot melt adhesive only to the beginning and end of each label, and then wraps the label around the bottle using a rotating labeling station.

This adhesive application method significantly reduces adhesive consumption. According to the equipment’s technical parameters, the adhesive application width is only about 10mm, covering only the beginning and end of the label, with adhesive consumption of approximately 1kg per 100,000 bottles (when the label height is 50mm), saving more than 50% of adhesive compared to cold glue labeling machines that apply adhesive to the entire label.

Why choose OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines for carbonated beverage production lines?

Waterproof and moisture-resistant, unaffected by condensation.

Carbonated beverage bottles are cold after bottling, causing condensation to form during transport. In humid environments, self-adhesive labels may turn white (the adhesive turns white when wet) or peel off. OPP film labels, however, are waterproof, and the hot melt adhesive maintains its stickiness even in humid conditions, preventing deformation or peeling due to condensation. Brands like Coca-Cola explicitly require their carbonated beverage labels to have excellent waterproof performance, maintaining their properties even in very humid and cold conditions (where condensation may occur).

Speed matching high-speed production line

Carbonated beverage production lines generally operate at high speeds. OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines can cover speeds ranging from 3,000 to 60,000 bottles/hour or even higher. Specifications from major equipment manufacturers show that rotary OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines can achieve capacities of 6,000-30,000 bottles/hour or more, with labeling accuracy ≤ ±1mm.

Significant Cost Advantages for Labels

OPP film labels combined with hot melt adhesive have significantly lower material costs than self-adhesive labels. Data from equipment manufacturers shows that using OPP film can reduce production costs by more than 30%. For carbonated beverage factories with a daily output of hundreds of thousands of bottles, these savings are considerable.

Low Glue Consumption and Low Operating Costs

OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines only apply adhesive to the beginning and end of the label, rather than applying adhesive to the entire label surface, resulting in much lower glue consumption than traditional cold glue labeling machines.

Suitable for the Rigid Characteristics of Carbonated Beverage Bottles

Carbonated beverage bottles need to withstand internal pressure, have thick walls, and are highly rigid, making them less prone to deformation during labeling. OPP labeling machines use roller labeling technology, requiring a high degree of mechanical contact force with the bottle body. This “hard-on-hard” contact actually provides greater stability and reduces the likelihood of label wrinkling or misalignment.

Highly efficient changeover, adaptable to multi-variety production

The OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machine has a short changeover time, completing the entire changeover process within 30 minutes. Both the packaging bottle and label configurations can be adjusted via a human-machine interface.

Jndwater (Shenzhen J&D Drinking Water Equipment Co., Ltd.) specializes in complete beverage bottling plant solutions, serving over 125 countries and regions worldwide. Our OPP hot melt adhesive labeling machines are compatible with various beverage production lines, including carbonated drinks, mineral water, and juices, supporting capacity requirements from 10,000 to 30,000+ bottles/hour. Labeling accuracy is ≤±1mm, and the machines utilize PLC + touchscreen control, supporting integration with filling and packaging machines.
