What types of chemical filling machines are available? What liquids can they fill?

In the production line of daily chemical products, filling machines are one of the core pieces of equipment. From free-flowing toners and laundry detergents to viscous shampoos and shower gels, and even creamy semi-solid face creams and toothpaste—different textures require different types of filling machines. This article will systematically introduce you to the five main types of daily chemical filling machines, and which liquids each type is suitable for filling.

Piston filling machine

Working Principle:
Utilizes a volumetric metering principle. A servo motor or cylinder drives a piston to reciprocate within the cylinder: when the piston moves backward, the feed valve opens, drawing material into the cylinder; when the piston moves forward, the discharge valve opens, pushing the material out into the container. The piston’s stroke length determines the filling volume.

Applicable Products:
High-viscosity daily chemical products: shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, facial cleanser
Creamy products: face cream, sunscreen, toothpaste, ointment
Products containing granules: scrubs (requires wide-mouth design)
Selection Criteria: If the product is “viscous,” “paste-like,” or has “poor flowability,” a piston-type filter is the preferred choice.

Flowmeter-type filling machine

Working principle:
The flowmeter measures the volume of material flowing through the pipeline in real time. When the accumulated flow reaches a preset value, the control system closes the filling valve, completing the quantitative filling.

Applicable products:
Low viscosity liquids: toner, lotion, mouthwash
Medium viscosity products: laundry detergent, dish soap, fabric softener
Oil products: hair oil, body oil

Weighing-type Filling Machine

Operating Principle: Utilizes a weighing sensor to monitor the filling weight in real time. It automatically decelerates when approaching the target value, achieving precise control down to the gram. A variable frequency speed reduction system at the filling end ensures accuracy.

Applicable Products:
Large-sized daily chemical products: 20L-200L bottles of laundry detergent, dishwashing liquid
High-value products: Essential oils, fragrances, high-end skincare products
Chemical products: Coatings, paints, adhesives

Gravity Filling Machine

Working Principle:
Utilizes the liquid’s own gravity to allow the material to flow naturally from a high-level storage tank into the container. Quantitative filling is achieved by controlling the filling time or liquid level.

Applicable Products:
Low viscosity, high flowability liquids: toner, makeup remover, cologne
Products that are non-aerated and do not foam.

Negative Pressure/Vacuum Filling Machine

Working Principle: Before filling, a vacuum is created inside the container, using the pressure difference to draw the liquid into the container. This method ensures that no air bubbles remain in the product, resulting in a more stable finished product.

Applicable Products:
High-viscosity products: lip gloss, mascara, foundation
Products sensitive to air bubbles: high-viscosity emulsions, gels

What liquids can a daily chemical filling machine fill?

Daily chemical filling machines have a very wide range of applications, covering various products from liquids to pastes. The specific categories are as follows:

Personal Care Products:Shampoo, conditioner, hair mask; shower gel, hand soap, liquid soap; laundry detergent, fabric softener, collar cleaner
Skincare/Cosmetics Products:Toner, lotion, serum; lotion, face cream, eye cream; sunscreen, makeup base, foundation; lip gloss, mascara, nail polish
Cleaning Products: Dishwashing liquid, toilet cleaner, kitchen cleaner; glass cleaner, floor cleaner; disinfectant, antibacterial solution
Oral Care Products:Toothpaste, mouthwash, tooth powder
Oil and Other Products: Hair oil, body oil; lubricating oil, engine oil

How to Match the Right Labeling Machine for Your Filling Line?

On a beverage production line, the filling machine and labeling machine are closely connected. Many customers buy the filling machine first and then look for a labeling machine later, only to find that the labeling machine can’t keep up with the filler’s speed. Filled bottles pile up on the conveyor belt like a mountain, the…
