The heat shrink wrap machine is an automated packaging device that groups multiple bottles of beverages together using heat shrink film. It works by wrapping PE or PVC heat shrink film around the product group, then heating it to shrink the film and form a compact packaging unit that fits tightly against the product.
Common packaging formats:
6-bottle, 12-bottle, and 24-bottle packs of mineral water/beverages
4-can, 6-can, and 8-can packs of canned beer
Multiple arrangements such as 2×3, 3×4, and 4×6
Full-wrap (covering the entire bottle) or shallow tray (open at the bottom)
Working Principle of a shrink wrap packaging machine
The wrapping machine’s workflow is as follows: Bottle sorting and alignment → Wrapping and sealing → Heat shrinking → Cooling and shaping.
- Bottle Sorting and Alignment
Single beverage bottles enter the wrapping machine from the filling line via a conveyor belt. The bottle sorting mechanism automatically arranges the randomly arranged bottles into the required matrix shape according to preset packaging specifications (e.g., 3×4, 4×6). - Wrapping and Sealing
The film is automatically pulled out and covers the top and around the product group, forming a “sleeve” shape. The sealing and cutting device heats and seals the overlaps of the film, while the cutter cuts the film, forming a complete cylindrical wrap. - Heat Shrinking
The wrapped product group enters the heat shrinking channel. Heating elements in the channel generate high temperatures (typically 120-200℃), and a hot air circulation system ensures even heat distribution. The film shrinks rapidly upon heating, adhering tightly to the product surface. - Cooling and Shaping
The shrunken packaging passes through a cooling section, where cold air rapidly cools and shapes the film. The resulting packaging units are compact, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing, and can be directly stacked or boxed.

Core components of a film wrapping machine
| Component Name | Functions | Technical Points |
| bottle dividing mechanism | Arranges single-row products into a matrix according to packaging specifications | The fork-type is suitable for a wide range of bottle types but not for PET bottles; the vibration-type is suitable for PET bottles but has a slow speed; the bottle-gripping finger-type has a fast speed but is only suitable for hard bottles |
| Membrane delivery system | Automatic film stretching and feeding | Tension control is crucial to prevent film deviation or wrinkling |
| Cutting device | Heat sealing and film cutting | Temperature control and blade sharpness directly affect the sealing quality |
| Heat shrink channel | Heating to shrink the film | Temperature zoning control, uniform hot air circulation, and full contraction in long channels |
| Temperature Control System | Precisely controls heating temperature | PID control with ±2°C accuracy, real-time infrared temperature monitoring |
| cooling system | Cooling and shaping | Air-cooled or naturally cooled, rapid shaping |
Common applications of membrane bottle shrink wrapping machine
The application of membrane packaging machines in the beverage industry is very extensive, including but not limited to:
Bottled water: 6 bottles, 12 bottles, 24 bottles with film packs
Carbonated beverages: 6-can, 12 can cans with plastic wrap
Beer: 4 bottles, 6 bottles, 9 bottles with film packs
Juice drinks: 4-pack, 6-pack Tetra Pak capsule packs
Functional beverage: Multi pack promotional package
In addition, the shrink packaging machine can also be used for secondary packaging of daily chemical products (such as hand sanitizer, laundry detergent), pharmaceutical products, canned food and other fields.

(FAQ)
Q: Can the film wrapping machine only use PE film?
You can use either PE or PVC film, depending on the product requirements. PE film is cheaper and is commonly used for bottled water packaging; PVC film has better shrinkage properties and is suitable for applications requiring high transparency.
Q: Is boxing necessary after film wrapping?
Film wrapping itself is a complete packaging form and can be directly stacked. If you have both retail and wholesale channels, you can add a boxing function after the film wrapping machine to allow for easy switching between the two packaging methods.
Q: Will the film wrapping machine damage the labels on beverage bottles?
No. Modern film wrapping machines use zoned temperature control and hot air circulation technology in their heat shrink tunnels. The heat mainly acts on the film, with minimal impact on the bottle labels. As long as the temperature is set correctly, the labels will not be damaged.
